June 2025

Updated: 16 hours ago

Dear Katies Arms Regulars

Where do we start?

June 2025 has been a belter of a month for all of our family turning out on the road to enjoy each others company and a reminder of what it feels to belong. We read and appreciate every one of your emails after a show. And Katie is hugely reassured to hear you are enjoying her shows as much as just being in the rooms with each other.

She was very moved by her time in Northern Ireland in particular, witnessing the betrayal of good people in Ballymena and trying to give a little voice to their truths. This is personal for Katie and she really does leave everything on the road. She will continue to stand fast with local communities fighting for decency and for their sons and daughters.

“Katie, I wish I could convey how last night's show felt - there aren’t enough words. I hope you felt the love we all have for you. Keep going girl, and never forget you will always have a home in Northern Ireland!

From the 2 of us and all the good people here in Belfast we can't thank you enough for not only coming here to us but also for knowing the truth about what is going on here. Thanks again to you and the whole Katie's Army team!!”

Merch and shop

For my part, manning The Merch stand is a real pleasure; getting to meet so many of you in person and hearing your stories. You are generous with you time and support for what we are trying to do and I am delighted the merch is something we can all share as a little reminder of this family of ours when we are not together.

We are very happy to let you know the Katie’s Arms shop is now REOPENED! I will be fulfilling these in the order they were received in between shows on the road. But will be all up to date by August when the tour ends. Katie is still hand stamping and hand signing all books before dispatch.

Captain M has given this helpful review of Katie’s BBB Book:

“Brilliant read. Great outlook on a life given back. Fought against the odds. Political and health with an OFO to the doubters.”

Cheers lads!

People are also noticing a change in our lovely audience. We still have our much celebrated senior members, and our young ones too - the whole crowd sang Happy Birthday to a special 18 year old who had decided to celebrate her birthday at the show in Cardiff. And not forgetting Katie's band of sturdy lllllesbians. But we are thrilled that groups of younger lads are coming along together or with their mums and dads.

Katie says it is because she is irresistible to younger lads. But the owner of the London Comedy Club says it is because she is actually funny, and men find her funny too. (She is secretly very proud of this compliment. Don’t tell her I told you).

“A great night in Stafford. Lots of laughs, Katie is absolutely amazing. She has brought fun and happiness into our lives during these quite depressing times.  My son of 25 came along for the second time , loved it and is so spreading the word. He's getting great feedback from the twenty somethings who are now following Katie because they are so fed up with being straight, male and British! Thanks for a great evening , we love you Katie.”

Cal Halbert

I wanted to give a special mention in this months missive to Katie’s brilliant warm up act Cal Halbert. Many of you have emailed praise for Cal, and we all love him. Not only is he funny, but he is always early, dresses beautifully and is willing to roll sleeves and get stuck in.

Bless all of the Batsh*t Bonkers team for a wonderful uplifting night (the warm up guy was brilliant!!)”

Angela

A private message from Katie

Katie asked me to pass along this message direct:

“Every time you guys sell out a theatre, we reclaim another venue where we can be together and speak freely. You have given me back my voice and are genuinely making change happen. I am so very moved by your generosity, truly.

And to those who rock up with gifts of wine or chocolate, you really shouldn’t. Times are tough out there. I appreciate you. I say cheers to you. As for Ian rocking up with a basket of lifesaving toiletries (including deodorant) in Dublin, Paula and Janette with the beautiful wildflowers at Trump Turnberry, and Manveer putting money behind the bar in Tower Hamlets for others to enjoy, you are angels, all.

I am so grateful to be alive to be a part of all this with all of you”.

I saw Katie at Felixstowe and it was the first time in a very long time I actually felt relaxed. Surrounded by common sense! Spoke to other people I had never met and came away finally feeling 'British' again. I truly cannot thank you enough.

Lisa

Right now, we are on a ferry to the Isle of Man for two shows, before bringing a bit of Batsh*t Bonkers Britain to Blackpool and a sold out crowd of 1400.

We cannot wait to see you there.

From all of us, to all of you. Thank you.
